The London Police

The London Police is a street art duo formed in London in the late 1990s. Known for their distinctive black and white aesthetic, their work spans murals, drawings, installations, and sculptural forms. Emerging from the immediacy of the street, they developed a visual language centered around their signature LADS characters, combining graphic precision with rhythm and humor.

Over the years, the duo has expanded from London’s urban landscape to an international stage, creating large-scale works and exhibiting across Europe, the United States, and Asia. While their practice has entered gallery contexts, it remains grounded in the directness and accessibility of street art.

Their practice is rooted in drawing as an immediate form of expression. Line, repetition and character allow ideas to move quickly from concept into form, while the LADS operate as a flexible visual system that adapts to different spaces without losing its identity. Working predominantly in black and white keeps the focus on composition, movement and interaction.
